Work in Reykjavík

Work in Reykjavík

The last couple of days, Anders and I have been working very hard for EJS.
We started Monday morning at Gudmundur’s office, with a little chat and some stories on EJS’s history and interests.

Gudmundur told us that EJS started it’s businesses in 1939, selling typewriters and also ended up repairing guns at one point, for the American and British army during the 2nd world war.
Since then, EJS has become one of the biggest and most influential IT companies in all of Iceland. At the moment, they make their profits souly from supplying almost every major company, school, hospital or organization with the most up-to-date desktop and server hardware.

Gudmundur introduced us to some basic jobs for a simple start, like switching parts in regular desktop PCs in their Microsoft and Cisco academy building. On the 2nd day of work, we set up a small desk-office for ourselves for our short 2 week stay. We then went on over to their service and repair building to assist their busy employees in assembling Dell laptops, desktops and servers in almost every size, color, shape and weight. We’ve been assembling these machines for 3 days now, because of the heavy load on the department at the moment.

We hope to do something new tomorrow, so that we might see more of this enormous company before we head home for a short period of time. Gudmundur has already agreed to sign at least a 3 month contract with us, for another trial period.

We had to wait for the always occupied Gudmundur today, busy as always. But hey, free coffee while waiting…

We also went to the Reykjavík center yesterday for some nice shots and some site-seeing. I really think theres nice shots amongst them…

We’ll be back later with more news and shots.

Greetings to everyone at home.

Regards,
Anders and Brian.
