Ásbirgi (Del 1) – Op af stolen og ud ad døren
Hey there.
Today I’m gonna show you some pictures from a trip that Bjørn, Peter and I was on recently, in nothern Iceland. It was a three day trip, covering the weekend. There’s alot of pictures and allot to tell, so I’ve chosen to split this into three chapters.
The ever-hard working Bjørn had his mind set on getting out of town to recharge a little. He was insisting that we simply HAD to take this trip going north, which turned out to be a rather fantastic experience at the end of it.
The goal was Àsbirgi – an entrancing and very popular nature preserved place, that lies in the north east of Iceland. Bjørn had been there once before, and now I know exactly why he was so exited about gowing – but more on that in the next entry.
First we had to say goodbye to the ever friendly Lisa, that had borrowed our couch for about a week or so. By then, we had become very good friends and Bjørn and I, once again, was baffled by the fact that every single couchsurfing experience we’ve had, has turned out in such a good way. Lisa had a scheduled flight home to Ireland before the weekend started, so she couldn’t come with us, unfortunately.
Our first goal was a camping area close to Akureyri – Iceland’s 2nd largest town. The trip there is, from Reykjavík, something around 350 kilometres, so we spend the first day getting there. We stopped a couple of times, though, to stretch our legs, and in one occasion to see an absolutely beautiful sunset. The sky was painted fiery red and Bjørn was playing with his camera effects.
When the sun had completely disappeared, we drove the last bit of the way to the camping area. The darkness came crawling in, while Kim Larsen’s Kielgarsten and Pink Floyd followed us into the black and hazy night.
More will follow, in the next chapter.
Have a good one…
